Gangs
Why do people join gangs? Some do because they are looking for a family that they don’t find at home. Some do it for power. I was in a gang once for protection from other gangs. The problem is, if the other gang is stronger than your gang you just end up in a deadly gang war. Before so many people began carrying guns this usually was settled with fists. Now people are shot to death, often innocent by- standers, in drive by shootings.
Many of the shootings are turf wars over drug territories. One girl interviewed about shooting someone said, “ she just like to watch them fall,” such disregard for life by some people. Please post your answers to the problems regarding gangs.

Individual mentoring would give teens someone to relate to. Parent involvement to guard against sex abuse would be wise.
